Developing goalies is tough. We help make it easier! Being around the position for years, we know all about the barriers organizations and associations face when it comes to goaltending. Even the best coaches shy away from helping goalies due to lack of knowledge on the position. At True North, our aim is to help goalies in any way that we can, and we know that by supporting organizations with their goalie development is one of the best ways to do so. We offer a variety of services to organizations to help them maximize their goalies' development. Some services may be offered remotely for organizations outside the Edmonton area. In-person services can be offered to organizations in areas within a few hours of Edmonton depending on coach availability, so arrangements can be discussed. Services include: On-ice goalie training Seminars to help teach coaches basics of goaltending and how they can best support their team's goalies Organizing "Try Goalie" days Organizational consulting to help implement ongoing programs for goalie development Off-ice training such as cognitive training and mental coaching Contacts to partners who specialize in goalie strength and flexibility training Mentorship options for goalies Digital packages with resources on how to improve their game (goalies) or how to help support their goalies (coaches) Other custom needs your organization may need If you are interested in letting us make the most of your goalie development, fill out the form below to see how we can help you! Our Services On Ice Sessions Our goalie sessions are designed with development in mind. We break down the "why" of the position and break down goaltending so our goalies become students of their own game. This helps them to understand how to play the position and to pick up on their own mistakes when they happen. We believe this approach helps to maximize a goalie's development. Each session is videoed and uploaded to a private account on our video app. We maintain a maximum of a 3 to 1 goalie to coach ratio. Our sessions are designed to focus on the areas that goalies struggle with or do not work on the most. Sessions are available in one off bookings or in multi session packages. Check Available Sessions Goalie Camps Our goalie camps are designed to maximize our goalie's development throughout the camp. We limit the amount of goalies on the ice and structure our ice sessions to have the goalies engaged for most of the session. Maximum goalie to coach ratio is 3 to 1. Our drill stations run video that is uploaded to a private account on our video app. We run a lot of skating and footwork drills throughout the week on top of the in net drills. Off the ice, we provide many unique and relevant activities designed to help give our goalies the tools to improve their game off the ice as well. These include activities such as strength and flexibility training, cognitive training, and classroom sessions. View Upcoming Camps Video Breakdown Video is a great way for a goalie to help see themselves and the things they need to work on or are doing well. We are big believers in the use of video as a supplement to our goalies' development. We video the drill portion of all of our sessions to upload to a private account for our goalies to review. We can take it one step further and provide a full video breakdown of either the video from our session, or an uploaded video from you of saves and goals from a game or practice. We use voice-over commentary, slow motion playback, and drawing tools to really break down the video and provide a different view point for our goalies to see themselves. Learn More Goaltending is a unique position, and unfortunately many parents and coaches know little to none about the position. This can lead to goalies feeling isolated, unsure, or lost, and could also result in them missing out on some key information that could help their development. This is why we offer a mentorship program which helps guide our goalies through the challenges of being a goalie and help them to reach their potential. The mentorship program consists of regular bi-weekly video calls throughout the season and touches on topics such as goal setting, mental training, on and off ice training guidance, and general support for goalies. Mentorship Program Book a Spot We work with organizations to provide maximum development opportunities for the goalies within their system. All of the organizations we currently work with provide lots of great feedback of what True North has been able to offer them, and their goalie families are grateful that we are brought out. We offer various support systems including on ice sessions, head and assistant coach training for goalie support, video breakdowns, try goalie events, and so much more. We would love to add your organization to our network and help create the best experience for your goalies that maximizes development. • Video Breakdown | TrueNorthGoaltending

Video Breakdown How It Works During the video breakdowns, we use slow motion playback, voice over commentary, and drawing tools to provide a different perspective for our goalies. This allows them to see themselves and get a good understanding of things they need to improve on and things they are doing well. For our video breakdowns, clients will be set up with their own private account on our free video app. From there, they can upload their own videos from games or practices that feature a montage of saves and goals that we can break down. Once our breakdown is finished, the client will be invoiced for the breakdown and once paid, the breakdown will be shared to their account on our video app. Breakdowns of videos taken during our on-ice sessions are possible to do as well. The cost of breakdowns will be $1.50/minute for the output video of the breakdown. A 5 minute montage of goals and saves from a game translates to roughly 45 minutes of output breakdown video. Please ensure the video is fairly good quality and is of an angle where it is easy to see the play developing so that we can provide a high-quality breakdown. See below for a few short examples of what a video breakdown would look like. To sign up for this service, fill out the form by clicking the button below, and we will be in touch to set you up on our video app! Please be aware that due to backlogs that it may be a while before the video review is performed. We will communicate this with you as best as possible upon booking. Sign Up Testimonials and Video Examples We use True North Goaltending for video review of game footage. It's easy to upload into their app, they are very detailed with the right information we are looking for to build on our goaltending skills. The multiple new skills that we learn are then development at our next ice session. We always have access to go back to the video and review again because it's stored in the app. This is a must for any person that wants to develop as a goaltender and is something we will continue to do to get better. To take a look at all of what the True North advantage offers, check out our services. We also run a goalie content website called The DIY Goalie . Testimonials from actual goalie clients: Our son loves his sessions with True North. The focus on fundamentals and developing good technique has helped our son grow as a goalie. With targeted drills, True North is able to help each goalie continue to work on their strengths, but also target areas that need to be developed further. - Julie D. True North is definitely focused on the quality of the save over quantity of the shots. They challenge the goalies to make the saves the proper way every time. - Scott S. Our Team Head Instructor and Founder Nathan Park Nathan has just under 20 years of playing experience as a goaltender, including 4 years of Junior A with the Spruce Grove Saints, Selkirk Steelers, Fort Frances Lakers, and Portage Terriers. During his junior career, Nathan won an SIJHL and an MJHL championship, including SIJHL playoff MVP. He also won goaltender of the year honours in the SIJHL and MJHL. Nathan finished his career with 2 years played at NAIT, where he had an opportunity to play against the Oilers rookies, making 30 saves in half of a game en route to a 2-0 win. This also led to the opportunity to be the Oilers emergency backup goalie over 12 games, although he never got to leave the stands and suit up. Since playing, Nathan has been coaching since 2017 with a focus on breaking down the position and helping goalies understand the why of goaltending. Nathan has coached goalies of all ages, from U9 beginners to Junior to adults. Head Instructor Jordan Wagg Jordan has been a goalie for nearly 30 years, competitively for 10 of those. He began coaching goalies when his kids started playing, and has learned under some of the best goalie coaches out there, including Kurtis Mucha, Tommy Nixon, and of course, Nathan Park. Jordan is currently the Director of Goaltending for the Sherwood Park Minor Hockey Association. He has a great passion for working with goalies both experienced and new to the position, as well as for building the community of goalies as a whole. The most rewarding part of coaching for him is the relationships he builds with the goalies and their families, as each of them grows to be their best selves, both on and off the ice. Head Instructor Connor Munday Connor spent 9 seasons playing in the Edmonton Minor Hockey system with Millwoods Hockey, North Seera, and Seera Hockey. In 2014, Connor began coaching at 15 years old with the AAA Junior Oil Kings Spring Hockey team, he continued to work closely with the Oil Kings after graduating Edmonton Minor Hockey until 2018, during that span, Connor has also worked with different teams in North Seera, and the River City Rhinos HSL team. In 2019 Connor was hired by the YEG Academy Wings of the GMHL Junior A, Connor later spent 3 seasons with the Northern Alberta Tomahawks of the GMHL, the latter two seasons, the Tomahawks made it to the Semi-Finals. Currently Connor was hired by the Spruce Grove Regals of the CJHL, his duties will include Goalie Development and video breakdowns of games. Apart from working with True North Goaltending, Connor is a lead instructor for the Goalie Coaches travelling school, and SOS Hockey.
